We are pleased to announce that Ismenia Monchez and Alondra Nieto have joined our board of directors.

Ismenia Monchez is a distinguished leader with a career spanning over two decades in leadership and management. She currently serves as the HR Director at Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley, where she oversees all aspects of human resources, people operations, leadership development, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

A proud UCLA and University of Redlands School of Business alumna and a first-generation Latine leader, Ismenia’s passion lies in cultivating inclusive workspaces where every individual can find their genius zone and flourish. “I am excited to join CAP’s board and look forward to contributing to CAP’s mission and supporting the journey of first-generation college students and their families,” says Monchez.

Alondra Nieto joins CAP’s board as its alumni chair. She is a proud CAP and John Muir High School alumna and a 2022 graduate of UC Riverside where she received a BA in Education, Society, and Human Development with a concentration in Community Leadership, Policy, and Social Justice. During her undergrad, she was the President of the National Residence Hall Honorary Highlander Chapter, a student-run organization focused on improving UCR’s housing residential community and providing programs for the student body that encourage leadership development. Nieto also served on CAP’s Student Advisory Council from 2020-2021. After recently serving as the John Muir High School Generation Green Coordinator during an internship with the Forest Service, Nieto continues to volunteer and provide Muir students with outdoor educational opportunities and exposure to careers within conservation. Alondra currently works as a Park Aide with the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Natural Areas.

“As a first-generation immigrant student, CAP’s help throughout my educational journey was invaluable. Everyone should have a choice and the opportunity to pursue higher education and I am proud to join the board CAP’s board as the organization continues to inspire me to reach new heights,” says Nieto.

“We are so pleased to welcome both Ismenia and Alondra to the board. Each brings her own unique expertise and perspective. Their contributions to our mission to support underserved students and families are sure to have a lasting impact,” says CAP’s Board Chair Laura Zachar.
