PROGRAMs

High School

We are passionate about serving every student who needs support, and are especially committed to partnering with first-generation students and students from low-income households.

Our high school programs are free for all students in grades 9-12, and are a collaboration with Pasadena Unified and Hacienda La Puente school districts.

Read on to learn about our after school drop in program, enrolled courses, and daytime programs.

After school Drop in

Our signature drop in program serves high school students offering one-to-one college knowledge in a dynamic computer lab setting that encourages peer collaboration. Our doors are always open to any student who wishes to:

  • Identify colleges that match their interests and personalities
  • Receive comprehensive college application assistance
  • Understand college majors and career pathways
  • Submit financial aid applications
  • Identify scholarships
  • Write and review personal statements and scholarship essays
  • Create a community college transfer plan
  • Activate college student portals and submit housing applications
  • Do anything college related!

Enrolled Courses

CAP’s enrolled courses offer students an opportunity to develop their college applications and are focused on enhancing students’ understanding of the holistic admissions process.

  • College Essay Writing for Seniors
Students learn what it takes to write great college essays, draft three essays for college and/or scholarships and receive feedback from peers and a CAP advisor.
  • College 101 Course for Juniors
Enrolled students will get a head start on their college list, college resume, and the college and financial aid application process in a fun, low-key workshop series.
  • College Champions
A peer support program that trains motivated high school students on the college preparation, application, and enrollment process, and empowers students to serve as confident leaders and a reliable resource for other students within their community.

Daytime Programs
Alternative High Schools

During the day, our college advisors collaborate with counselors and teachers to serve non-traditional learners individually and in the classroom.

In addition to exploring four-year and two-year colleges, CAP’s advisors help interested students find and apply to a variety of postsecondary certification, training, and apprenticeship programs that will lead to increased job readiness and overall student growth and success without excessive cost burdens.
