Middle School

Building a college-going culture in families and schools does not begin with college entrance exams or college applications; it begins much earlier, with a feeling: college is for me.

School-based Partnerships

CAP supports fifth through eighth grade students with classroom presentations, in-class multi-session workshops, one-on-one academic planning sessions, and five- or nine-week after school enrolled courses. Offerings are open to all students and focus on the exploration of college, career, academic, and personal interests. Middle School programs are often supplemented with family engagement workshops for parents/guardians to learn about college and explore a variety of options for the future.

LEARNs Partnership

CAP partners with PasadenaLEARNs afterschool programs at Blair, Marshall, Washington, Eliot, and Sierra Madre middle schools to provide courses focused on exploring college, career, academic, and personal interests. While students must sign up for these courses, they are open to anyone who wishes to learn about college and explore a variety of paths for their future. Course offerings are paired with parent engagement workshops.

Courses meet twice per week, per site, and sites rotate throughout the year.
